Prodigy Squaerial - Aerial Square

Out of stock

UK-made and fully certified by independent safety testers.

The Squaerial is like an Aerial Hoop but square (or diamond), it's like a Lyra with corners or a Lyra squared!

WHY IS THE squaerial for me?

hoop and trapeze skills

The Squaerial has no fixed rigging point, so you can choose how to rig it. Rig it from a central point or 2 points as a square or a corner as a diamond.

The shape of the Squaerial and the different rigging options give a unique opportunity to transfer Aerial Hoop and Trapeze skills onto something new.

Each rigging option will change how the Squaerial feels and encourage you to use it differently.

Alice is 170cm (5'7") and usually uses a 100cm (39") Hoop.

more space for shapes

The Squaerial's shape gives you much more room inside than a Hoop. This can give you some of the fun and visual impact of an Aerial Cube but in a 2D shape that is much more practical to store, transport, and rig!

A Squaerial is similar to an Aerial Picture Frame or Window Frame. But those designs have sharp angles at the corners, which makes the corners uncomfortable and unusable. The Squaerial has been designed and tested with comfort and function in mind, so Prodigy has used rounded corners.

The Squaerial is available in one size, with an external diameter of 95cm/37.4" and an internal diameter of 90cm/35.4"

The usual size guide for Aerial Hoops doesn't quite apply to the Squaerial, as you will need to adapt to the different shape.

HOW DO I RIG THE Squaerial?

You can choke one or two Polyester Strops or Aerial PolySafe Ropes from the top bar or a corner.

If you are using the hoop bare (un-taped), you must put tape directly under the Strop/PolySafe Rope to prevent the bar from slipping.

You could use a Prodigy Aerial Sling in some circumstances, but we don't recommend this for long-term rigging. You could use these in a performance if you need rigging, which is less visible to the audience.

If you do not want the Squaerial to spin, connect your strop/rope to your anchor point with a carabiner. We recommend this when you want to keep the Squaerial rigged from one point facing an audience.

If you want to spin, you need a carabiner at the top of the rope/strop, connected to a swivel, and another carabiner securing you to your anchor point. When rigging 2 points from a swivel, you must use a rigging plate and a couple of extra carabiners.

For more information on how to hang a Hoop, check out our information page here and watch the video, made by our friends at Most of the basic information will apply to the Squaerial.

A safe rigging point to attach to is essential. We have comprehensive information to help you here.

Aside from a rigging point, there are optional accessories and essential rigging gear. What you need for each type of Aerial Hoop varies. If you have any questions, we are happy to help. We recommend items like tape, grip aids, hand loop straps, and this fantastic book.

Everything above assumes you have a suitable and safe rigging point, like a professionally installed rigging point or a reputable and rated freestanding rig. Not every home/studio will be the same, so we cannot advise on this part. If you haven’t established a safe rigging point, please do this first with the help of a structural engineer/experienced rigger/professional familiar with what you're hanging and where you're hanging it. You can find some more information on how to install at home here and general aerial safety here.
