Our custom hula hoop allows you to choose the hoop you want! You can select the size, weight and colours of your hoop from the menus above. This page contains it all; our standard hula hoops, heavier weighted fitness hoops, small hoops for multi-hooping and children's hula hoops.
All these hoops have fabric grip tape applied (colour chosen above) which makes them easy to use and why we call them "ProGrip" hula hoops.
Here's how to pick what you want:
1. Choose your hoop diameter and weight.
Most adults, especially those using their hoop to keep fit use the 100cm hoops. Hoops of this size are easier to use because they have more momentum. These hoops are also suitable for bigger kids (though smaller kids have been known to use them too).
You can choose to have a 100cm hoop made from 25mm or 20mm tubing. The tubing size affects the weight of the hoop.
Hula hoops made from the 20mm tubing are our standard hoop. At 480g the standard hoops are lighter than the 25mm weighted exercise hoops. The standard hoops are good for beginners and we recommend them to people who are more interested in hoop tricks and dance than in the fitness aspect of hooping. Thanks to their 100cm diameter and grip tape the standard hula hoops are still easy to use. Want something even lighter and faster? PolyPro hoops might be for you.
The 25mm hula hoop is also very popular and is recommended for fitness hooping as the extra weight helps to burn calories and tone muscle. It weighs about 600g and is only available in 100cm (39") diameter. We refer to hoops of this size and weight as "medium weighted" hoops. These 100cm, 25mm hula hoops are slightly easier to use than the standard hoops but because they can cause bruises when doing fast tricks we recommend them to people who are more interested in the exercise element of hooping than the tricks and dance side.
The third option is the 85cm hoop made from 20mm tubing. This is the lightest hoop (400g) available on this page and is the hardest to use for adults but still easy for kids to use. Most adults that use these hoops are doing two, three or even more hoops at the same time. That's why we call these hoops "multi-hoops" or "kids' hoops". If you're a multi-hooper then you might like PolyPro hoops too. These 85cm, 20mm hoops are a bit cheaper than the 100cm ones.
2. Choose your base colour
This colour is the shiny tape that is applied to the hoop first. All colours are beautiful and striking. They are also more hard-wearing and able take more punishment than tapes on cheaper hula hoops.
3. Choose your grip tape colour This tape is also very hard-wearing. It's made from fabric which helps to provide grip making hula hooping easier. It beats the pants off many cheap hula hoops that use slippery and weedy PVC insulating tape. Some of the grip tape colours are also UV reactive and glow brightly under blacklight and look great at dusk and dawn in the ambient UV light.
You can also choose glow in the dark grip tape. Made from the same material it has a pigment that is luminous in the dark. However, this tape will add £10 to the cost of the hoop.
The ProGrip decoration is tough and durable but drops on hard and rough surfaces like concrete will damage the decoration. We advise hooping over grass or wooden floors to prolong the beauty of your hoop's decoration.
