TILT Festival 2016 - 18th to 22nd July 2016

TILT is a 5-day Aerial and Physical Theatre Festival celebrating high quality teaching and performance from national and international circus artists. The festival, which is based in Birmingham, combines a comprehensive masterclass programme with free outdoor aerial shows, young people’s work and family friendly performances.

Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, participate in the TILT16 masterclass programme. Daytime and evening classes include Aerial Silks, Rope, Static Trapeze, Hoop, Wall Running, Chinese Pole, Cyr Wheel, Yoga, Handstands, Aerial Theatre and much more, and visiting teachers include Sarah Bebe Holmes, Mark Glover, Joe Garcia, Ambra Vallo, Kim Charnock and Claire Crook.

On Wednesday 20th July, enjoy an amazing evening of performances from leading and emerging aerial and physical theatre companies including Thimble Theatre’s 'Walk Ashore', a family friendly piece for young children and adults, RoguePlay Theatre’s ‘Boots’, in which a lone performer delivers a heartfelt static trapeze solo in a pair of walking boots, Lorna Meehan’s evocative spoken word show ‘Brazen’, and finally, ‘Ashes’ by Paper Doll Militia, a progressive aerial company from the States. On Thursday 21st July, there’ll be a showcase of the best work by young people in the region with new Aerial and Physical Theatre commissions performed at Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

The festival culminates in a free outdoor performance of ‘Snakes & Ladders’, a collaboration between RoguePlay Theatre and Gravity & Levity, which brings together 5 performers to play a huge 3D version of the traditional Snakes & Ladders game on a specially designed rig in Centenary Square. Performances are completely free and followed by participatory workshops for the public.

There is so much going on both day and night so get your skates on to book EarlyBird tickets by May 31st. Visit www.tiltfestival.com.
