Firetoys Aerial Silk (Aerial Fabric / Tissus) - Medium Stretch Aerial Silks
Our very own high quality, professional (medium stretch) Aerial Silk (also known as an aerial fabric or tissus) made in the UK. Available in various lengths. Please note the size listed is the total length of the silk. As Aerial Silks are rigged from the centre the working length is a little under half the total length. Working Load Limit (WLL): 128kg.
Price is for the fabric only, rigging accessories are sold separately.
Non-Slip and durable
Firetoys own Aerial Silks are of a high quality, professional standard and made from a durable, ladder resistant fabric. The material's non-slip textured finish provides more grip than other Aerial Silks but still retains a sheen under stage lights.
The 148cm wide, 75 denier fabric creates a chunky grip. The durability of the fabric makes it very well suited to studios where it will get a lot of use.
Bounce and Stretch
The downwards stretch in these silks doesn't need to be broken in and pulls out over 4-6 months but is fine for immediate use. As these silks have a medium stretch, they are well suited for some advanced moves where more bounce is preferred. Medium stretch silks, especially when brand new, will take more energy to climb than our low stretch Prodigy Aerial Silks.
Choose a length of silk that is double the height of the area/rig you are using plus 2 metres. The most popular length is 16m and this is about the minimum needed to perform drops as it will give you roughly 7m of silk between the anchor and floor.
For a low ceiling height (4m and below, for example) you may want to consider a longer length of fabric to give you more tail. This is because with a low ceiling height you will run out of tail quickly when practicing wraps.
An aerial hook (sold separately) is required to hang this silk. Please use ONLY the Prodigy Aerial Silks Hook or the figure 8 to connect to the silk directly. The WLL of these silks when connected with the figure 8 is 128kg.
Fabric is 100% polyester.
All Aerial fabrics are prone to reaching high temperatures during long or high energy slack drops, this can result in small melted patches, and even holes. These holes are caused by the friction of the fabric rubbing against itself and the performer during high speed movement. Nylon and low stretch fabrics are more succeptible, so the stretchy polyester of the Firetoys Silks is slightly less prone to this phenomenon. However, you should always take care when practicing slack drops, and be aware of the high amount of friction you can generate during these drops.
If you regularly perform slack drops, you will need to inspect the full length of your fabric regularly, and the fabric will need replacing more often
Aerial acrobatics products have a different returns policy to the rest of our catalogue. Please make sure you are familiar with this before buying.
