If you're looking for a cheap but functional set of poi that you can pick up the basics with then these could be for you!
The bags are small but give a good weight at the end of the string enabling you to slow your moves down while still retaining a good deal of grace. The trailing ribbons also help to add weight although they do slow it down by increasing the drag factor. This is great for beginners and they also provide an excellent visual display of what angle/plane you're spinning along for the sake of learning in addition to looking rather pretty.
I know this is quite savage but if after a while you get tired of the ribbons then you can simply cut them off and the poi still work wonderfully well, infact I found hyperloops much easier once they were removed although they certainly don't look as attractive now!
Their light weight is good too as it means you can readily adjust the length by looping the string around your fingers without them cutting into your hands.
The only possible improvement to these would be the addition of swivels but that would surely push the price up by a few pounds...
In summary - a good, if not great, bargain price set of poi ideally suited to beginners and in a range of colours too!
