Isolation hoops, or rings, are beautiful props. These small hoops are held in the hand and using techniques like mime, isolations, anti spin and other geometrical patterns amazing optical illusions are created. The rings appear to have a mind of their own, bounce like a basketball or get stuck in mid-air. Our isolation hoops are made from aluminium polished to a mouth-watering shine. They come in two different sizes to suit all styles.
Isolation hoops arose out of the contact juggling boom some years ago, pinching some CJ techniques and making them their own. Early pioneers like Ryan Mellors are responsible for the growth in popularity of this form of object manipulation. More recently artists like Poki and Nicolas Longuechaud have been pushing the boundaries of hoop manipulation with new techniques and props.
These rings tend to be much smaller than normal hula hoops and aren’t often spun around the body. However, some isolation techniques can be applied to hula hoops as well and look great when slotted into your usual hooping routine. You are limited by the big size of normal hoops though.
