Free Ropes, Aerial Rope, Corde Lisse

Free Ropes, Aerial Rope, Corde Lisse

The aerial circus discipline of free rope, also known as corde lisse, uses a 35mm or 36mm thick cotton rope which hangs vertically from the ceiling. Freerope has a lot in common with aerial silks in terms of the moves and postures that can be performed on the aerial rope. We stock two main types of corde lisse: 3 ply and braided rope. All are supplied with steel eyes and some come with carabiner-style quick hooks.

Like all aerial acrobatics, free rope requires a lot of strength, flexibility and dexterity and must be trained with all the relevant safety precautions.

We also offer free ropes in black as well as white cotton.

Common corde lisse moves include: Arabesque, double foot tie, horizontal flip, front flip, skip drop and many, many more.

We also stock Spanish webs in this section. Spanish webs are similar to free ropes except they have a sleeve around the outside of the rope and a loop at the top. The performer can hook a wrist or ankle through this loop to hang separately. Another person, the ‘web-setter’ then spins the rope making the performer come to a horizontal position.

All our aerial ropes have been strength tested for safety and come with an information sheet with a section to record usage.
